Import and export categories
Export a category tree to XLSX, update its structure or translations, and import the file back into PartGrid.
Export categories
Open Categories and select Download Categories.
PartGrid opens a job page while the export is prepared. When the file is ready, select Download file.
The export contains all categories available to the company.

Language columns
The language suffix uses the relevant language code, such as name_en or description_de.
Update the file
Keep the existing column names.
Use the category code to identify a row. PartGrid updates an existing category when its code already exists and creates a category when the code is new.
Use parent_code to place a category below another category. The referenced parent code must exist in the imported file or already exist in PartGrid.
Import categories
Translation behavior
PartGrid reads name and description columns for the company’s supported languages.
An empty name or description cell does not erase an existing translated value. Add a value only where that translation should be created or updated.
Review the result
Check the job result for created, updated, or failed rows. Return to Categories and confirm the tree, parent relationships, names, and descriptions.
