Manage categories
Understand how category trees organize schematics and limit the branches available in customer-facing collections.
What categories control
Categories organize schematics in a tree of root categories and subcategories. A schematic can belong to more than one category, so the same diagram can appear in several relevant branches.
Categories in collections
A collection can use one category as its root scope. The selected category and its descendants form the available branch in the customer-facing collection. See Scope a collection to a category branch.
Category tree types
Uncategorized schematics
PartGrid uses an automatically managed Uncategorized category when a schematic has no other category assignment. This category is not shown in category management and cannot be deleted.
Category languages
Category names and descriptions can be maintained for the active dashboard language. Category exports also include name and description columns for the company’s supported languages.
Permissions
Viewing, creating, editing, deleting, importing, and exporting categories use separate permissions. Actions that are unavailable for your role are hidden or disabled.
