Add names and descriptions in multiple languages

Add and maintain translated names and descriptions for parts in your catalogue.

How part translations work

Part names and descriptions are stored separately for each content language supported by the active company. The part number is shared across languages and is not translated.

Edit one language

Choose the intended content language from the dashboard language selector before opening or editing the part. Enter the translated Name and Description, then select Save Changes. Repeat these steps for each language you maintain.

  1. Select a supported content language.
  2. Open the part from Parts.
  3. Enter or update the Name and Description.
  4. Select Save Changes.
  5. Switch languages and repeat where required.

Import translations

Use an XLSX import when you need to maintain translations for many parts. Add name_ and description_ columns for the supported language codes, such as name_en and description_en. The import updates only the language columns supplied in each row.

Review customer-facing content

Catalogue lists and customer-facing experiences request content in a selected language. Some list views can use another available translation as a fallback, but you should add the intended translation for every customer language rather than relying on fallback content.

Translation checks

  • Keep the part number consistent across all translations.
  • Use the same terminology customers see in the relevant market.
  • Check names and descriptions in every supported language after an import.
  • Do not assume text entered in one language is copied to another language.
